Evolution of Virtual College Degrees on the Internet
The internet revolution brought new ideas and opportunities to people all over the world. Some used them for commerce, while others used them for communication. But one that is often overlooked is the influence that the internet has had upon the way we learn. Both traditional colleges as well as online colleges use the internet to expand the opportunities offered to their students. As a graduate of a traditional college and someone who has taken online classes, I believe that online college degrees should be worth just as much as a traditional degree if not more. E-Learning universities offer three distinct advantages over other colleges: affordability, convenience, and flexibility.

Distance education open up the idea of a college degree to a new set of people who would have never thought they could afford a college degree. The price of college is rising incredibly fast and loans are becoming harder to get, so web-based universities will be key to the future generation. The institution also can avoid many infrastructural things that keep the prices low for students; they do not need a large campus or housing so they can make everything affordable and convenient.
An online college also offers a level of convenience that traditional colleges will never be able to match. It is easy for a full time worker to attend college at night from his home; no other type of college can duplicate that. I really enjoy studying and learning from home and I think that online schools, because of this, are the future.
People who want more education but need a full time job to support them are left with very few options. But virtual colleges now give them the possibility of at home quality education. Traditional campus based universities require a student to move and rent a new house, u8sually in an area that has high rent prices, but distance learning allow the student incredible flexibility.
These advantages give online colleges a solid market that will only expand as the internet evolves.

There are some disadvantages to attending school through an online program to be sure. For me a person who likes to be engaged with people in a face to face environment the toughest part was communicating through discussion boards and email. Also because I could do the work anytime (so long as it was done the week the work was assigned) instead of be a specific time on a specific day I had to get used to getting school work done on my own fake deadline. I would say that Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM was when class was, and therefore I made it mental for me to have my papers and other reading done by then as if I was going to be in class.
Got my BSN though through online college and while it is not cheap getting the degree is one of my best accomplishments.
