As a prospective student, you will have several alternatives to decide which medical college is best suited for your individual career requirements. If you are concerned about how to get yourself into an accredited medicinal university, then don't stress out- There are ways to make the ends meet!

Medical students and professionalsFirst of all, as a pre-med you must be 200% sure about taking up the challenges of medicinal field and studies. There are lots of colleges that offer an accelerated medical sciences field. So basically you can become a doctor within a short period of time as compared to attaining a full fledged campus degree. It takes a lot of hard work and persistence to survive the curriculum pressure.  A six year course means that you will have to roll up your sleeves and get things done faster than others.  If you have the right attitude then completing graduation within six years is very much attainable.  There are several benefits for getting into a 6 or 7 year medical school. It can help you cut off 2 years of college attendance; additionally those who graduate faster have a better opportunity to set their career goals.

After analyzing the usual list of students getting accepted to med-schools, it is obvious that institutes with close affiliation with under-graduate universities have a disproportional (highly uneven) ratio of students admitted from their own undergrad program.  It basically indicates that these institutes would rather admit those who finished undergraduate studies from their own preferred college or an affiliated campus.

It would be wise to consider an accredited college that is already tied up or has it's own combined (BS/MD) medical degree courses.  However please be advised that it does not guarantee an admission into their system. On top of it, having poor grades or GPA will decrease your chances of getting enrollment. To put this in perspective, the only advantage you got over other external students is being part of their own undergraduate college.  This point alone will increase your chances over other people who might be better academically than yourself!

If you are able to maintain a respectable grade level (GPA), then there are universities with specialized degree programs offering guaranteed admission in a medicine oriented school.  You can get by & survive college of science, even if you perform at a bare minimum level.

Co-operation/affiliation based educational institutions that provide medicine/health care related studies, turn out to be the best option for those who are not highly qualified. So don't get discouraged if you tend to score average grades, there is always an alternative in life!  Even with an average performance, there is still hope that you will end up in a exceptionally well med school.  For some, it presents a great opportunity to fulfill their dream of becoming a doctor without compromising their lifestyle or the standard of educational learning.

Many e-learning colleges in United States offer a six year accelerated curriculum.  Students have the choice to get a degree through traditional/regular campus or a distance education program.  Either way, I think enrolling into a six year medical school offers way more benefits in the long run.
